How I Defeated My Smoking Addiction

My story may help you quit too

I felt extremely sick and toxic while sprawled out on the couch smoking my cigarette, no matter how sickly I felt I would keep sucking it down till it reached the filter and was finished.

I was once addicted to smoking and enjoyed having multiple cigs daily, especially during my breaks at work when I worked at an abattoir. It would be a routine to rush out on your breaks to roll your smoke and suck it down as quick as you could before the siren goes off signalling to get back on the floor.

It was only until I started feeling really sick from them, the price of the packets continuously rising through the roof and for my own health, I decided I need to cut down and eventually quit.

I tried my mother’s Nicorette spray and it was awful, it felt like it was acid melting my tongue and didn’t taste that great either. I avoided trying the patches especially Champix from the possible side effects it causes and how I saw it affect my father in the past. Other methods like gum I didn’t touch either as I found they weren’t very effective for my mother or in my research.

My true start to the journey of me quitting was when a friend at work brought out his vape in the smoke room, I was curious and asked him all about it. Once he settled my questions he gave me a try to experience it, once I tried his vape that is when I knew I found something that might help me and researched it.

I used to smoke a 50g roll your own pouch of Port Royal tobacco within a fortnight, sometimes within a week when I smoked more and shared my tobacco with my brother and co-workers.

On 26/5/2018 I bought my first vape, the Aspire Zelos 50w kit, similar to what my friend had. I found that it was ok for what it was at the time, I later decided to upgrade when my brother and other friends bought vapes.

I upgraded to the Smok I-Priv vape and used TFV12 Prince Triple Mesh 0.15ohm coils, which I found better for my needs and increased the intensity and full access to the flavours I was vaping.

Those vapes helped cut down my use of cigarettes, making the pouches last longer and saving me more money than I was previously. Sure it ain’t no cigarette although I enjoyed it more than the tobacco.

I finally found the vape that would put the final nail in the coffin for my cigarette addiction, the Uwell Caliburn. I tried it from my friend and it is a pod class vape system that uses nicotine salt vape liquids, it felt perfect for my needs and a better cigarette replacement.

I ordered my Caliburn on October 9th 2019, about 3 months of use with that vape I completly phased out smoking cigs and haven’t touched one since.

On top of quitting cigarettes, I gained many benefits such as saving money that I used to spend on smokes, better and wider range of flavours with vaping, no bad smelling clothing, hair, fingers or breath, the health benefits of not using tobacco and more.

I didn’t face any withdrawals using my vape that many others may face while quitting the deadly cigs.

I am happy with the choice I made, my family and friends also back my choice.

Vaping isn’t for everyone, even if it is one of the best quitting tools available.
Some people may prefer to use other methods to try and quit.

I advise those who want to crush their smoking addiction to research vaping, talk to friends, family and acquaintances who have experience with it, explore vaping shops online or in-person to look at their available information and decide whether you feel this is the right fit for you.

It has helped me and countless many other people, now it is up to you to make your choices on how you want to quit cigs for good.

I wish those who are on their quit journey good luck and remind you that you have options out there available to help you and those who care that will support you.
